The quickest car in the class won, and it took him two goes at the lead. Hendrick Westmoreland threw down the hot lap of qualifying at 14.629 and still started second, behind C4's better 19-lap run. He led lap 1, lost the front to Anthony Woodruff from lap 2 to lap 10, then went back in front on lap 11 and stayed there. His 14.847 was the best lap of the main and his 16.091 the best average, and he finished with 20 laps to C4's 19. An 86.93% run is scrappy for a winner. With a lap in hand, I'll forgive every bit of it.

Charlie Kleinhagen got the qualifying half of the night exactly right. C4 topped heat 2 in both qualifiers, took the TQ off a 19-lap 5:05.851 and had the best qualifying average in the class at 16.097. Then the main gave him a 15.425 best, 0.461 slower than the 14.964 he'd found in qualifying, and a lap less than Westmoreland at the flag. He and Anthony Woodruff spent 7 of the 19 racing laps inside two seconds of each other, and C4 came out of that 4.992 seconds ahead. Second from the TQ is a good night that had a better one inside it.

Nine laps in the lead, and Anthony Woodruff went home third. He took the front from Westmoreland on lap 2 and kept it through lap 10, and once it was gone he couldn't stay ahead of C4 either: the two ran together for 7 laps and C4 finished 4.992 seconds up the road. His 15.234 was the second-best lap of the main, so the speed was in the car. An 89.60% race that leads for half its length and ends a lap behind the winner is one he let get away.

Mark Beach went in fourth and came out fourth, and I'm not handing out credit for holding station. He qualified at 92.62% with 18 laps in both runs, then ran an 83.80% main with an 18.132 average, 0.843 a lap slower than he'd managed in qualifying. That's a lot of scatter for a driver this tidy, and it left him a lap short of Woodruff and the podium.

Jack Foster out-qualified Jaxson McKee by 4.847 seconds over the same 17 laps, and the main turned that round: McKee ran 17 laps to Foster's 16 and took the place off him. I like the result more than the pace. His main best of 16.587 was 0.819 off the 15.768 he found in qualifying, and an 85.01% run kept him a lap behind Mark Beach.

Something went wrong for Jack Foster in Q1, because it stopped at 4 laps and 1:12.595. He answered with 17 laps in Q2, and that run alone put him fifth on the grid. The main handed the place back: 16 laps at a 19.738 average, a lap short of McKee, with Brian Zimmerman 11.357 seconds behind him on the same lap. The recovery in Q2 was the best thing he did all night.

Zero laps in Q2 left Brian Zimmerman's whole qualifying resting on one 16-lap run, and seventh on the grid is where that put him. The main brought a 16.225, quicker than anything he turned in qualifying, and 16 laps, the same as Foster ahead of him. His 81.33% was the lowest of the eight, and that's where the 11.357 seconds to Foster went.

    A-main P8 · qualified P8 · qual best lap 17.356 · 86.74% qual cons · 14 laps · fast 17.806 · 83.19% cons

Two laps behind Brian Zimmerman at the flag is the honest size of Albert Bredernitz's night. His 22.648 average in the main was 2.136 a lap slower than anyone else in the A-main, and his 17.356 best in qualifying was the slowest of the eight as well. The consistency held up fine (83.19%, cleaner than Zimmerman's), so this one is about pace, and there's a lot of it to find.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 1

Hendrick Westmoreland leads the Fall series with 100 points, and he had to get to the front twice to earn them: he had it on lap 1, lost it to Anthony Woodruff from lap 2 to lap 10 and went back in front for good on lap 11. Woodruff led nine laps and left in third, a lap down, and that's the result in this class I'd least want to own. C4 took the TQ and the best qualifying average, then finished second a lap down after 7 laps locked together with Woodruff. The quickest lap in qualifying, 14.629, and the quickest in the main, 14.847, both belonged to the winner, which is as clear a verdict on pace as one night gives. After one round the standings are only the result written down again, so the 4 points between Westmoreland and C4 prove nothing yet.

Through Round 1 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

Two weeks ago Charlie Kleinhagen took the TQ and finished a lap down. This time he took the TQ and nobody saw the front of the race but him. C4 led every lap, turned a 14.795 that was the quickest lap in the class all night, and won by 7.866 seconds over Mark Beach. The 85.21% is lower than I'd like from a driver winning this comfortably, and lower than his 91.19% in the Round 1 main, and it cost him nothing. He leads with 196 points, 8 clear of Beach, and the man who beat him in Round 1 wasn't there to answer.

That's more like it. Mark Beach qualified third at 94.05%, the cleanest qualifying of the four, then ran 19 laps at 91.28% and finished on the lead lap, 7.866 seconds behind C4. In Round 1 he managed an 83.80% main and 18 laps. The speed still isn't Kleinhagen's (a 15.642 best against a 14.795), but the tidy driving has carried him from fourth to second in the series with 188 points, 8 behind the leader and 4 clear of Jaxson McKee.

Jaxson McKee won the first qualifier with 18 laps in 5:09.796 and started second, and the main went the wrong way from there. His 15.467 was the second-best lap of the race, yet 17 laps at a 19.623 average left him two laps behind both C4 and Mark Beach. He had the speed and not the laps, and an 83.53% run was nowhere near the 91.59% he qualified at. Third in the series with 184 points, 4 behind Beach, is better than that main deserved.

Ten laps and 3:32.792 is where Albert Bredernitz's main stopped, so this was a night that went wrong out there. It's a shame, since his qualifying was his tidiest of the series so far: 15 laps in both runs at 90.88%, up from 86.77% in Round 1. Fourth still pays 92 points, and having raced both rounds puts him fourth in the standings with 176 points.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 2

Only four cars took the start, and Charlie Kleinhagen made it count: TQ, every lap led, and the series lead with 196 points, 8 clear of Mark Beach and 12 clear of Jaxson McKee. Hendrick Westmoreland, who beat him by a lap in Round 1, missed this one and slides to fifth with 100 points. That gap looks enormous, and it isn't. After Round 3 the table still counts only two results, so everyone who has raced twice can improve only by beating his worst night, while Westmoreland banks whatever he scores in full. One more win puts him on 200 points, the most C4 can count by then, so I'm not calling this a runaway.

Through Round 2 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

One qualifier was all Brian Zimmerman needed. He won Q1 with 17 laps in 5:00.710 for the TQ, came away from Q2 with no laps at all, and then ran the cleanest main in the class at 94.04%. He led the first six laps, lost the front to Robert Summers for exactly one, took it back on lap 8 and kept it. Summers had the hotter lap, 15.944 to 16.273. Zimmerman had the best average in the main at 17.415 and 19 laps to Summers' 18, and that's what pays.

Robert Summers threw down the hot lap of the night in this class, a 15.944 in the main that nobody else got within 0.3 of. He also had the lead on lap 7, for one lap, and that was all of it: Zimmerman had the front back on lap 8 and Summers finished with 18 laps to his 19. An 89.58% run against Zimmerman's 94.04% says more about that gap than any single lap does. From third on the grid, though, beating Mark Beach home by 7.637 seconds is a good night, and nobody in the class showed more speed.

This night gave Bruce Farrand more than his driving deserved. His 78.70% was the scrappiest main in the class, 5.13 below Chris Anderson's 83.83%, and his Q2 had already stopped at 3 laps. Still, the 17.551 he turned in the main was quicker than anything he managed in qualifying, and 16 laps kept Anderson 11.550 seconds behind him on the same lap. He held his seed and banked 92 points.

Chris Anderson had a quicker best lap than Bruce Farrand in the main, 17.275 to 17.551, and still finished 11.550 seconds behind him over the same 16 laps. A 21.056 average is the reason: the quick lap was there, and too many of the others weren't. He ran third in Q2 with 16 laps and was tidy across qualifying at 91.05%, so the 83.83% main was a step backwards.

    A-main P6 · qualified P6 · qual best lap 19.773 · 85.97% qual cons · 13 laps · fast 20.424 · 89.30% cons

Seven laps and 2:52.327 was all Norm Donelson's first qualifier lasted, and he came back with 13 laps in Q2, fourth in that run ahead of Bruce Farrand and Brian Zimmerman. His 89.30% main was steadier than Farrand or Anderson managed ahead of him. Pace is the gap, a 24.949 average nearly four seconds a lap off Anderson's, and he opens the series with 88 points.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 1

Brian Zimmerman TQ'd off a single qualifier and won with the cleanest main in the class, 94.04%, and he leads with 100 points. Both lead changes involved Robert Summers, who led lap 7 and nothing else, and his 15.944 in the main was the quickest lap anyone in this class turned all night. Quickest car against tidiest car is the matchup in this class, and on the opening night the tidy one finished with a lap more. Mark Beach was the third quick car, quickest in qualifying at 16.394 and third at the flag. After one round the standings are only the result, so the 4 points between Zimmerman and Summers say nothing about either of them yet.

Through Round 1 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

A 98.08% main is absurd, and Brian Zimmerman ran one. He'd already won both qualifiers at 98.38% for the TQ. Robert Summers led the first 11 laps, the two of them ran inside two seconds of each other for 12 of the 18 racing laps, and Chris Gross spent 6 laps within two seconds of him as well. Zimmerman took the lead on lap 12 and kept it to the flag. His 16.707 best was slower than Summers' 16.548, and it didn't matter, because his 17.170 average was the best in the main. Dialed is the only word for it.

Robert Summers had the quickest lap in qualifying at 16.222, the quickest in the main at 16.548 and the lead for the first 11 laps, and he still finished second to Zimmerman for the second round running. How does the fastest car lose a race it led that long? Zimmerman averaged 17.170 to his 17.475, and after 12 laps neck and neck, 0.305 a lap was too much to give away to a car running 98.08%. Summers is better than he was, 94.40% after 89.58% in Round 1. He's second with 192 points, 8 behind, and nobody else is within 16 points of the leader.

Chris Gross turned up for his first night of the Fall series and left with a podium. He had the second-quickest lap in qualifying at 16.398 but only 16 laps in either run, which is how a car that quick starts fourth. The main was where he got tidy: 96.47%, 6 laps running with Zimmerman, and third, 4.877 seconds behind Summers on the same lap. He's level on points with Mark Beach at 94 points from one start, and I want him at every round from here.

From 78.70% in the Round 1 main to 96.92% in this one, second only to Zimmerman's in the class: Bruce Farrand has fixed the thing I was hardest on him for. He started third and finished fourth on the same 18 laps as Summers and Gross, giving up the podium to a car that started behind him, and his 17.310 best says the pace isn't there yet to stop that. The 89.78% main was cleaner than his 86.88% across qualifying, which is the right way round. His 17.804 best was the slowest lap anyone in the A-main turned bar Norm Donelson, and that's where the tenths are hiding.

The main lasted 6 laps and 2:12.062 for Norm Donelson, so something went wrong early. He'd qualified with 12 laps in both runs. Seventh still pays 86 points, and having raced both rounds puts him fifth in the series with 174 points, ahead of three drivers who have raced once.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 2

Brian Zimmerman has won both rounds and has 200 points, and this was the night he had to work for it: Robert Summers led the first 11 laps, the pair went at it for 12 of the 18 racing laps, and Zimmerman didn't get to the front until lap 12. Summers has now turned the quickest lap in the class at both rounds and lost both mains to the tidier car, and in this class I'd rather own the 98.08%. Behind them, Chris Gross took a podium on his first night of the series, and Bruce Farrand's 96.92% has him third with 184 points, 4 clear of Chris Anderson. Only two results count after Round 3, and two wins already make 200 points, the most anyone's total can be. Summers can reach 196 points at best, so Zimmerman leads this class after Round 3 whatever happens in it, and the fight that's still open is for second.

Through Round 2 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

Wire to wire and a lap clear: this was a beating. C4 took the TQ with 19 laps in Q2, led every lap of the A-main and finished with 19 laps to Dallas Boyd's 18. His 14.611 was the quickest lap in the class all night and his 94.29% the cleanest main of the six, and nobody else came close to putting the two together. Anthony Woodruff actually had him on pace in qualifying, 14.660 to 14.748. Charlie Kleinhagen answered in the main by going quicker than either.

From sixth of six on the grid to second at the flag, and Dallas Boyd did it off a 63.82% qualifying that finished last in both runs, the second of them stopping at 13 laps. Then the main happened. His 14.706 was the second-quickest lap of the race, 0.095 off C4, and he spent 8 of the 19 laps within two seconds of Anthony Woodruff before finishing 2.209 seconds ahead of him on the same lap. He and Dallas Boyd ran together for 8 laps of the main, and Woodruff came out of it 2.209 seconds behind on the same lap. His 14.978 best and 87.04% were both a step down from his qualifying. The main came apart from there: 83.86% and 17 laps, a lap short of Boyd and Woodruff ahead of him. Odd thing is, the speed went up, a 15.392 that was quicker than anything he found in qualifying. He kept Mark Beach a lap behind and finished where he started.

Mark Beach ran 18 laps in both qualifiers, had the second-best qualifying average in the class at 16.787 and started third. The main was 16 laps. An 18.376 average is 1.589 a lap slower than he qualified at, and two lost places is what that costs in a field of six. Beating Brian Zimmerman by 14.726 seconds on the same lap is thin comfort for a car that looked like a podium threat before the main.

Fifth in both qualifiers, Brian Zimmerman went quicker in the main, a 15.842 that beat his qualifying best by 0.343. The tidiness went the other way. His 81.56% was the scrappiest main of the six and his 19.307 average the slowest, and 16 laps left him 14.726 seconds behind Mark Beach on the same lap. Quicker and scrappier is the wrong way round to improve.

Championship after Round 1

C4 opens the 13.5 4wd series with 100 points and the most complete night anybody in this class had: the TQ, every lap led, the quickest lap at 14.611 and the cleanest main at 94.29%. The story behind him is Dallas Boyd, who started sixth of six off a 63.82% qualifying and finished second, 2.209 seconds clear of Anthony Woodruff after 8 laps of close racing. Woodruff had the quickest lap in qualifying and leaves with third, and Mark Beach started third and ended fifth, two laps short of what he ran in either qualifier. After one round the standings are only the result, so Boyd's 96 points are real, but they prove nothing yet.

Through Round 1 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

A two-lap win, and his 14.920 was the quickest lap in the class all night. If I'm nitpicking, and I am, the 90.44% main was scruffier than the 95.28% he qualified at. Two weeks ago Mark Beach ran 16 laps at 85.13% and finished fifth. This time it was 18 laps at 93.47%, the cleanest main in the class, C4 included. He and Ryan Johnson spent 12 of the 20 laps inside two seconds of each other, and Beach was the one who stayed tidy, 15.219 seconds up on him at the flag. That leaves the pair level with 186 points, and Beach's second place puts him ahead on the countback. Of his two nights in this class this fall, this one wins by a distance.

Ryan Johnson had the second-best lap in qualifying, a 15.385 only C4 beat, and still started behind Mark Beach, whose 19-lap Q1 outran every run Johnson put together. The main was a straight fight with Beach for 12 of the 20 laps, and then Johnson fell away to finish 15.219 seconds adrift on the same 18 laps, at 88.54% to Beach's 93.47%. He's level with 186 points and behind on the countback, since Beach owns a second and Johnson's best is this third. Fourth, then third: the direction is right and he's in the hunt.

    A-main P4 · qualified P4 · qual best lap 16.132 · 84.65% qual cons · 15 laps · fast 16.182 · 83.20% cons

A lonely first start of the fall in this class for Chris Gross. His 15 laps at 83.20% left him three laps behind the Beach and Johnson fight and five behind C4, and the gap was there from qualifying, where his 16.132 best was more than a second off Charlie Kleinhagen's 14.984. The 92 points still put him sixth in the standings on one start, and the job from here is turning a 16.132 into something better than a 19.373 average.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 2

Charlie Kleinhagen is running away with the 13.5 Expert 4wd, and I mean running: he has led every lap of both mains and banked a perfect 200 points. The race worth watching is the one behind him. Mark Beach and Ryan Johnson ran together for 12 laps tonight and leave level with 186 points, Beach ahead on the countback because his second place is the best finish either of them has. Dallas Boyd, Anthony Woodruff and Brian Zimmerman all missed this one and sit on single starts, Boyd still fourth with 96 points. The first drop comes after Round 3, when the best two of three count, so only a driver who races all three nights gets to shed a result. My call: nobody touches C4 on this form, and second place is Beach's to lose.

Through Round 2 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

Brian Zimmerman won this without the quickest truck, and I love him for it. His 16.810 was only the third-best lap of the main, behind Sam Bredernitz and Mark Beach, but nobody matched his 17.916 average or his 93.64% consistency. He took over the lead on lap 2 and kept it for 16 of the 17 racing laps, finishing 12.986 seconds clear of Bredernitz on the same lap count. He qualified at 93.68% and raced at 93.64%, the same driver twice, and that driver leads with 100 points.

The hot lap of the night belonged to Sam Bredernitz, a 15.879 in the main that was quicker than anything anybody turned in qualifying, and he converted the fourth seed into second place. That seed came off a Q1 that stopped at 12 laps, so this was a climb from the start. He ran with Mark Beach for 7 of the 17 racing laps, got clear of him by a lap, and finished on the lead lap, 12.986 seconds behind Brian Zimmerman. The catch is an 18.716 average, 0.8 a lap slower than Zimmerman's, so that heater came with plenty of slower laps around it.

For 7 of the 17 racing laps Mark Beach was inside two seconds of Sam Bredernitz, and his 16.249 was the second-quickest lap of the main. Then Bredernitz got away and Beach crossed the line a lap down with 17 laps. At 88.65% there weren't enough laps that looked like that 16.249. Third from the third seed is no disaster, but the second-best lap in the race deserved a better finish than that.

Albert Bredernitz found speed when it counted. His 16.918 in the main beat his best in qualifying by 0.357 and his average came down from 20.930 to 19.992, which turned the fifth seed into fourth place, 7.925 seconds ahead of the TQ, Anthony Woodruff, on the same 16 laps. He was still two laps behind Brian Zimmerman, so the front of this class is some way off. For an opening night, 92 points and a place gained will do nicely.

How does the TQ, with the best lap in qualifying, finish fifth? A 70.59% main. Anthony Woodruff qualified on a 15.991 and a 17.888 average, led the opening lap, and then raced at 20.589 a lap, 2.701 seconds slower than he'd shown in qualifying. That left him with 16 laps, two behind Brian Zimmerman and beaten by Albert Bredernitz on the same count. With the speed he showed earlier in the evening, a main that scrappy is unacceptable.

A rough night for Ralph Owens. His Q1 was tidy enough, 14 laps at 93.52%, but he didn't complete a lap in Q2 or in the main. Sixth in the order still pays 88 points.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 1

Consistency beat speed in the first truck main of the fall, and by a distance. Anthony Woodruff TQ'd on the best lap of qualifying and led lap 1, then sank to fifth on a 70.59% main, while Brian Zimmerman, only third-quickest in the race on fastest lap, took over on lap 2 and never gave it back. Sam Bredernitz had the quickest lap of the night at 15.879 and climbed from the fourth seed to second, with Mark Beach on terms with him for 7 laps before ending up a lap down in third. Albert Bredernitz turned the fifth seed into fourth, and Ralph Owens had the roughest of it, with no laps in Q2 or the main. After one round the standings are just this finishing order, Zimmerman first with 100 points and Sam Bredernitz second with 96 points, so read nothing into them yet.

Through Round 1 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

Mark Beach checked out. He TQ'd off the only 18-lap run anybody managed in qualifying, turned the best lap of the night at 16.188, and then led the main from the first lap to the last, a full lap clear of Chris Gross at the flag. His 94.41% in qualifying and 92.79% in the main were the cleanest in the class both times. In Round 1 he was third and a lap down. Now he's level with Brian Zimmerman at the top with 194 points, and on this form he's my favorite for the title.

What a way to open a truck season. Chris Gross qualified fourth with the third-best lap in qualifying, a 16.662, and finished second, one lap down on Mark Beach when everybody else was two or more behind. The 87.23% and a 19.779 average say there's a cleaner run still in there, which is a worrying thought for everyone else. A fourth seed on the podium is the upset of the night, and 96 points from his first truck start of the fall already has him fifth.

Brian Zimmerman's consistency fell from 93.64% in the first main to 83.66% in this one, and the result fell with it: third, two laps down on Mark Beach. He qualified second on two 16-lap runs and ran another 16 in the main, just without the tidy driving that won Round 1. A podium on an off night is still worth 94 points, and it keeps him level with Beach at the top, both with 194 points. If the Round 1 version shows up next time, this is a two-man title.

His 17.123 was the third-best lap of the main. An 81.88% main kept him 8.563 seconds behind Brian Zimmerman on the same 16 laps, and I'd bet a cleaner run closes most of that. Sam Bredernitz had more pace in qualifying and still sits two points behind him.

The slowest best lap in qualifying, an 18.289, and Bruce Farrand still started fifth, because his 15 laps in Q1 beat Albert Bredernitz's best run on time and Chris Anderson's on laps. The main was more of the same: 88.32% consistency, second only to Mark Beach, carried him to 16 laps and fifth, 3.797 seconds behind Bredernitz. He gives away speed to everybody ahead of him and wins a lot of it back by not wasting laps, and on his first night out that was worth 90 points.

From the back of the seven-truck grid, Chris Anderson brought it home sixth with 15 laps, one behind Bruce Farrand. His 18.070 was quicker than anything Farrand turned all night, so the lap went missing between the fast ones: a 21.869 average to Farrand's 20.545. He ran 14 laps in both qualifiers and 15 in the main, which is the right direction for a first night, and the 88 points have him ninth in the standings.

Sam Bredernitz had the second-best lap in qualifying, a 16.543, and the third seed, and his main lasted 5 laps. It stopped at 1:37.753, so something went wrong early, and seventh place pays 86 points. That stings more than one bad night should: he arrived second in the championship and leaves fourth with 182 points, two behind Albert Bredernitz. The first drop comes after Round 3, best two of three, and if he beats 86 points there, this is the result that comes off.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 2

After two rounds the truck title is a dead heat: Brian Zimmerman and Mark Beach are level with 194 points, one win and one third each. Beach took his win the loud way, TQ and flag to flag, a lap clear of everybody, while Zimmerman's consistency slid to 83.66% and he hung on for third. Albert Bredernitz hasn't won anything and sits third with 184 points on two fourths, 10 behind the leaders. Sam Bredernitz dropped from second to fourth on a main that stopped at 5 laps, and the first drop after Round 3 is the best thing on his calendar. Chris Gross took second on his first truck start of the fall and already sits fifth. My pick from here is Beach, with the cleanest runs in the class in both qualifying and the main.

Through Round 2 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

William Schroeder was the whole Mod 2wd entry, which made him the TQ by default, and he never took the start of a main. The order pays him first all the same, and 100 points is a handsome return on a night with no main laps in it.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 1

Mod 2wd opened the fall with a field of one. William Schroeder qualified, which made him TQ over nobody at all, and then never took the start of a main, so the class's first night ends with one name in the order and no main laps beside it. The order pays him for first regardless, and he leads the championship with 100 points from a main he didn't run. One round in, nobody has beaten him, mostly because nobody else came to try.

Through Round 1 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

Noah Hicklin lost the lead to Nick Gibson on lap 4, had it back on lap 7 and ran the last 15 laps out front to win by a full lap. That's a TQ doing the job properly. His 21 laps in 5:00.908 in Q2 took the top seed from Gibson by 1.745 seconds, and in the main his 14.196 average was 0.838 a lap better than Gibson's. Throw in the quickest lap of the race, a 13.487, and I can't find a hole in this one.

Nick Gibson threw down the heater of the night, a 13.379 in qualifying that nobody beat, and then took the lead off Noah Hicklin on lap 4. He held it for three laps. From lap 7 Hicklin was back in front and Gibson ended up a lap down with 20 laps, because a 15.034 average from a driver whose best main lap was 13.513 leaves a lot out there. He had the speed and not the laps, and 88.43% against Hicklin's 92.21% tells the same story.

Two laps behind Noah Hicklin on the track, 94 points ahead of him in the championship: William Schroeder is the man the standings love right now. His first main of the fall was a steady 19 laps at 88.38%, and the 14.099 best beat anything he turned in qualifying. The front two are another level for now, about 0.6 quicker on their best laps and further clear on average. The 194 points are a lead built on turning up twice, and in a four-car class that counts for plenty.

    A-main P4 · qualified P4 · qual best lap 15.675 · 91.92% qual cons · 16 laps · fast 15.585 · 88.45% cons

Jack Foster ran 17 laps in both qualifiers and 16 in the main, so the race came up a lap short of what he'd shown earlier, even with a 15.585 best that beat anything he managed in qualifying. The 88.45% was down on the 91.92% he qualified at, and that's where the lap went. Noah Hicklin was 5 laps up the road, which is a long way, but 92 points count the same as anybody's and put him fourth in the standings.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 2

Noah Hicklin won the race and William Schroeder leads the championship by 94 points, and the second fact won't survive long if the first keeps happening. Hicklin TQ'd, watched Nick Gibson lead laps 4 to 6, took it back on lap 7 and won by a lap, while Gibson's 13.379 in qualifying stands as the hot lap of the night. Schroeder finished third, two laps down, but the 100 points from a Round 1 he had to himself give him 194 points against Hicklin's 100. The math for Round 3 is brutal for the leader: if Hicklin wins it, his 200 points beat anything Schroeder can reach, because second place would take Schroeder's best two to 196 at most. Jack Foster sits fourth with 92 points, and the first drop after Round 3 only bites for a driver with three results to choose from.

Through Round 2 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

Colton Black led every lap of the first Novice main of the fall and won it by 3 laps, 11 to Mav Woodruff's 8. He'd already shown the speed in qualifying, 11 laps in both runs and a 23.488 best, which made him TQ, and the main was the same driver again at 86.53% against 86.19% in qualifying. Matching his qualifying form in the main is exactly the habit a Novice wants, and he has it already. He leads with 100 points.

Mav Woodruff's night went the right way from start to finish. His first qualifier stopped at 3 laps, the second ran past the 5-minute mark for 7, and the main gave him 8 at 84.39%. The best lap came down too, from 33.722 in qualifying to 31.830 in the main, nearly two seconds found in one evening. Second in the standings with 96 points is the reward, and he earned every one of them.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 1

Two Novices took the green for the first round, and both left with something to be proud of. Colton Black TQ'd and then led every lap to win by 3 laps, and his 86.53% in the main sat within half a point of what he ran in qualifying. Mav Woodruff found more every time out, from a 3-lap first qualifier to 8 laps in the main, and his best lap came down by 1.892 seconds along the way. After one round the standings are simply the finishing order, Black first with 100 points and Woodruff second with 96 points.

Through Round 1 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

Ryan Black came in for his first round of the fall, TQ'd off an 11-lap first qualifier, led every lap of the main and beat Colton Black to the line by 0.574 seconds on the same 11 laps. Over more than five minutes of racing, that's next to nothing. He had the quickest lap in qualifying at 24.123 and the quickest in the main at 23.688, so the pace was real. His 81.36% shows a few untidy laps in there, which makes leading every one of them all the more impressive. He sits second in the standings with 100 points from one start.

How does the driver with the quicker average and the cleaner main lose? Colton Black ran 89.35% to Ryan Black's 81.36% and averaged 29.197 to 29.633, but Ryan Black led every lap, so Colton Black never got in front and finished 0.574 seconds behind on the same 11 laps. His best qualifying run was 10 laps to Ryan Black's 11, which put him second on the grid. He leads the championship with 196 points, 96 ahead of Ryan Black, and on this evidence the next one between them is anybody's.

This list runs in overall order rather than by main — the A-main, then the B, then the C, as one continuous run — and a driver who bumped up appears once in it, at the finish that scored. The table above has each main as its own race.

Championship after Round 2

The Novice main came down to 0.574 seconds, two cars on the same 11 laps, and that is a proper race in any class. Ryan Black turned up for Round 2, took the top seed and led every lap, with Colton Black on his heels at the flag after running the cleaner main at 89.35%. Colton Black still leads the championship with 196 points, 96 clear of Ryan Black's 100, and Mav Woodruff holds third with 96 points from his one start. Ryan Black won the race and Colton Black won the consistency battle, and I'd want a ticket for the next time these two line up.

Through Round 2 the drop rule has nothing to take away yet, so both columns match.

How points work

First is 100, second is 96, then two points a place down the combined overall order — A‑main, then B, then C, as one continuous list. Everybody in the order scores their place, including a driver who qualified and did not start.

Six rounds, two drops: your best four count. The drop comes in one result at a time — one for every three rounds run — so until Round 3 nothing is discarded. Ties break on wins, then seconds, then thirds, then whoever’s latest race came first.
