The ordinary midweek club nights — two qualifiers and mains, no championship attached. Nobody is chasing a title, so what is worth keeping is the driving: who turned the quickest lap, who qualified where, and who put a run together when it counted.

Each main is listed as its own race, from first. Lower mains run first and the top two bump up a main at a time, so the C feeds the B and the B feeds the A, and a driver who moved up is listed twice — in the race he won his way out of, and in the one he went on to run. Overall is where that put him across the whole class, and it sits on the higher of his two rows. Qualified is his seed across the whole class, which is what put him in the main he started — not a slot on that main’s grid. Nothing here is worth championship points: club nights are not scored. This class shared its track session with 13.5 Stadium Truck: the timing counts one race across both fields and scores them apart, so the positions here are the ones printed in that combined race.

Two 21-lap qualifiers seven seconds apart on the clock is the sort of sheet that settles a top seed before anybody has had to think about it, the second of them 5:07.429 at 90.49% consistency. The A main was better again — 22 laps in 5:10.863, a 14.628 average and 92.93% consistency, the tidiest run he put down all evening, with a 13.316 in the middle of it that was the quickest lap this class turned all night. The class ran inside one shared track session with the 13.5 Stadium Trucks, scored separately, so the two buggies filled the front of a four-car race sheet. TQ and the win with a lap in hand, and not one run all night that dipped under 90% consistency.

Nineteen laps, then 20, then 21: a buggy that added one every time it was switched on, with the quickest lap coming down alongside it each session — 14.401, then 14.295, then a 13.934 in the main. The A was his best run of the night for lap count, race average and outright pace — 21 laps in 5:11.947 off a 15.389 — even if the 87.41% consistency inside it was the softest of his three sheets. Second on the grid became second at the flag, a lap adrift of a driver who was improving just as fast, in a two-buggy class sharing its races with the Stadium Trucks. Nothing went wrong here; the buggy in front simply had more in it over five minutes.

The night in short

Two buggies, one A main, and the whole thing ran as a single track session shared with the 13.5 Stadium Trucks — same races, scored apart, which is why this class takes the top two slots of a four-car sheet titled Mod 2wd Buggy. Noah Hicklin led it from the first heat onwards, banking 21 laps in both qualifiers within seven seconds of each other and then finding 22 in the A at 5:10.863, behind the class's quickest lap of the night at 13.316 and 92.93% consistency. Joe Duffy built his evening in exactly the right order, 19 laps to 20 to 21, and knocked a slice off his best lap every time out — 14.401, 14.295, 13.934 — for comfortably his quickest running of the night in the main. It was still a lap short at the flag, because the buggy ahead of him was improving at the same rate and had started from the better side of the grid. A tiny entry, enormous lap counts, and two drivers who both left with a better sheet than the one they arrived with.

One fast lap here is not the one the timing printed. A transponder counted a lap twice, producing a time quicker than the class has ever gone from a run nowhere near that pace, so the figure shown is that driver’s quickest genuine lap of the run instead. Nothing else about it moves: the finish, the laps and time and the average are as they were raced.

Nobody else put a buggy in the class, so the evening was Joe Duffy against his own timing sheet, run inside the 13.5 Stadium Truck session with truck company alongside for every lap. Both qualifiers came back on 20 laps and barely a whisker apart — 5:07.790 at 90.42% consistency, then 5:04.152 at 89.28% off a 15.208 average with a 13.794 in it, the best lap he turned all evening. The main was much the scrappiest of his three runs: 18 laps at a 17.560 average and 68.31% consistency, better than two seconds a lap adrift of the pace he had been carrying in the heats. Two tidy qualifiers and a rough main, with nothing riding on any of it but his own standards.

The night in short

Mod 2wd Buggy drew exactly one entry, so there was no field, no race for anything and nothing credited for being the only name on the sheet — Joe Duffy brought the buggy out inside the 13.5 Stadium Truck session and ran it anyway. The two qualifiers were the good half of the night and near enough identical: 20 laps in 5:07.790 at 90.42% consistency, then 20 in 5:04.152 at 89.28%, the second one three and a half seconds quicker with a 13.794 underneath it, his best lap of the evening. The main declined to follow suit — 18 laps at a 17.560 average and 68.31% consistency, more than two seconds a lap off his own qualifying pace and comfortably the roughest driving he did all night. An empty class list leaves a driver nothing to measure against except the run before, and by that measure the evening peaked in the second heat. He turned up, put three runs on the board and made two of them count for something, which beats staying home.

The night in short

Mod 2wd Buggy drew exactly one entry, so there was no class to beat and nothing credited for being the last man standing in it — Joe Duffy simply turned up, put the buggy out inside the 13.5 Expert 4wd session and raced it anyway. Qualifying handed him one of each: 20 laps in 5:01.277 at 89.36% consistency, then a second run that fell to pieces at 15 laps, a 20.340 average and 27.02%. Lap count up on his qualifying, average down, consistency up, and a fastest lap that kept improving session by session. The main went back to 20, a 16.129 average and 87.35% consistency, and it was worth a place on his seed. The A refused to play along: 19 laps, a 16.629 average and 69.84% consistency, the softest sheet in the race by a distance. Fourth from second on the grid is not the evening that second qualifier promised.

Jake Stoeltzing followed him home a lap down on the steadiest sheet in the race at 92.19%, and William Schroeder's 20 laps took third after he had put in the best opening qualifier anybody in the class managed. Joe Duffy is the one who will want the night back — second on the grid off a 20-lap run in 5:00.465, then a main at 69.84% consistency that dropped him to fourth despite owning the second-quickest lap in the race. Small field, big lap counts, and a winner nobody laid a glove on.

The 2.656 seconds he finished behind therefore did not come from pace, because his buggy was the tidier of the two once the race settled. Noah Hicklin, a lap down on him in both qualifiers, matched the 21 laps in the main and beat him on race average (14.411 to 14.457) and consistency (95.03% to 94.76%), finishing 2.656 seconds back with the better numbers and the worse trophy. Behind them Jake Stoeltzing and Joe Duffy both came home on 20 laps and swapped their grid slots doing it, Jake Stoeltzing taking third by 3.999 seconds on the least consistent sheet in the race while Joe Duffy's tidier 90.56% could not make up for being a fraction slower everywhere. Qualifying does not get much more repeatable than 21 laps in 5:02.033 at 94.02% followed by 21 laps in 5:01.392 at 95.60%, 0.641 of a second between the two runs and the second one steadier than the first. The main did not hold that line — 89.71% consistency and a 14.832 average — though he still matched the winner's 21 laps and posted the quickest lap of the race at 13.695. Twenty-two laps in both qualifiers when neither of the other two got past 21, a 13.978 average and 97.44% consistency in the second of them, and the top seed was never in any doubt — that is as convincing as a qualifying sheet gets in a class this size. The main reads 11 laps in 2:49.341, roughly half the distance the other two covered, and third place is what the sheet awards for it. Nothing on the page explains why the race stopped where it did, so the only fair thing to say is that it did, and that the two runs before it were the class of the evening.

The night in short

Three buggies, one A main, and the fastest of them spent the shortest time on track. Noah Hicklin qualified on another level — 22 laps in both runs when nobody else found more than 21, capped by a 13.978 average at 97.44% consistency — and then his main came to a halt at 11 laps and 2:49.341, which the sheet scores as third and declines to explain. That left the win to Joe Duffy from the back of the grid, 21 laps in 5:09.116 at 92.66% consistency, the only driver of the three who was steadier in the race than he had been in qualifying, and holder of the quickest lap of the night in this class at 13.517. Jake Stoeltzing had looked the better bet on qualifying evidence, with 94.02% and 95.60% from his two runs, but the A came back at 89.71% and 3.095 seconds adrift despite the quickest lap of the race. Three cars, three genuinely quick ones, and a result that came down to which of them could keep doing it for five minutes.

Seeding comes from the qualifying run, not from one fast lap: most laps wins, and on equal laps the quicker time wins. Every figure in a row describes that one run. Heats are not raced against each other, so a heat win is not a class result. A consistency figure needs at least four laps to mean anything, so 1 run here has none shown.

One timed qualifying run is all the sheet gives him — the opening heat registered nothing at all — and that single run was 19 laps in 5:07.154 at 92.26% consistency, more laps and a steadier card than anybody else in the class managed across two attempts. Taking the top seed off one run is a rare way to earn the pole, and the main confirmed it was no accident: 18 laps in 5:00.765 with a 14.598 in there, the quickest lap this class turned all night. The 82.57% consistency is the softest sheet in the race, which is the one column Dallas Boyd won and the one place it made no difference, because the gap at the flag was 10.280 seconds on the same lap. A whole evening's work condensed into one qualifier and five minutes, and both of them were enough.

Qualifying built the way you want it to — 17 laps at 87.31% consistency, then 18 in 5:10.582 at 90.06% — and the front row came out of the second run without any argument. He matched William Schroeder's 18 laps in the A and held the steadiest sheet in the race at 88.85%, off a 14.983 that was his quickest lap of the night and left the two of them as the only drivers in the class to get under fifteen seconds all evening. Ten and a quarter seconds adrift on the same lap is a beating rather than a hiding, and every figure on his card moved forward from the moment he arrived.

Seeding took the tidy opener and handed him fourth. The A was a considerably better piece of work: 16 laps again, but at 88.23% consistency and an 18.573 average, better than two seconds a lap quicker than that second heat run. It was worth a place off Mark Beach and the last step on the podium.

The second qualifier was the better of his two by a lap, 17 in 5:14.402 against a 16-lap opener, and it put him third on the grid as the quickest of the chasing pack. The main is the line on the sheet that stops the eye: 15 laps in 4:34.605, the only card in the race that does not run to five minutes, so the buggy was done before the flag came out. What it did while it was going was quick — 87.42% consistency and a 15.396 quickest lap, better than anything either heat had given him and the third best in the race — and Jack Foster's full 16 laps took third off him by the plainest arithmetic there is.

The A came back a lap short of that, 14 in 5:19.273 at a 22.408 average and 83.46% consistency, with an 18.520 quickest lap that was the slowest best-lap of the six. Qualifying gave him almost nothing to work with: three laps in the first run, three in the second, and sixth on the grid off 3/1:07.889 — runs that short say nothing about a car beyond the fact that they ended early. Everything he did all night was therefore in the main, and the main was a real five minutes: 14 laps in 5:21.385 at 83.91% consistency, off a 16.436 quickest lap nearly five seconds better than anything either heat had shown. That was the fourth-quickest lap in the race, ahead of the car that finished in front of him. Last of the six and 2.112 seconds behind Albert Bredernitz on the same lap, out of an evening where he barely got to turn a wheel before it counted.

The night in short

Six cars, one A main, and a top seed who got there off a single timed run — William Schroeder's opening qualifier registered nothing, and the one that followed was 19 laps in 5:07.154 at 92.26% consistency, more laps and a steadier card than anybody else produced in two attempts. He turned it into the win on 18 laps carrying the class's quickest lap of the night, a 14.598, with Dallas Boyd shadowing him home on the same lap count 10.280 seconds back and holding the steadiest sheet in the race at 88.85%. The only position that changed hands was third: Jack Foster started fourth having dropped a 70.86% consistency run into his second qualifier, ran a tidy 16 laps at 88.23% in the main, and took the place off Mark Beach — whose race reads 15 laps in 4:34.605, the one card of the six that never reaches five minutes. At the back, Albert Bredernitz and Russell Rima finished on 14 laps apiece separated by 2.112 seconds, Russell Rima having got only three laps into each of his qualifiers and then found a 16.436 in the race, comfortably his best lap of the evening. Two quick buggies at the front, one race that stopped early in the middle of it, and nobody outside the top two turning a lap under fifteen seconds all night.

Mathew Schroeder took the second qualifier back off him on the same 19 laps and a full second quicker, so the pole came out of the run that opened the session rather than the one that closed it. The A made the argument redundant: 19 laps again, a 15.889 average that was the lowest in the race, and the only nineteen anybody in the class managed all evening. It still only paid a front-row slot, because seeding takes the best run rather than the last one and Hendrick Westmoreland's opener had already banked the same lap count four and a third seconds faster. The main did not carry it on: 16 laps at 80.73% consistency, the softest sheet in the race, though the 16.197 he found in there was the best single lap he turned all night. He also had 13.5 4wd, 21.5 and Stadium Truck to get through on the same Wednesday, which is a great deal of racing for one evening.

Four cars, one A main, and a qualifying session that split neatly in two. Hendrick Westmoreland took the opener on 19 laps in 5:02.970, carrying the class's quickest lap of the night at 14.672, and Mathew Schroeder answered by winning the second run on the same 19 laps a full second quicker — but the grid is set by the best run rather than the last, so the pole stayed with the earlier one and Mathew Schroeder started second. The race followed the grid to the letter: 19 laps for Hendrick Westmoreland at a 15.889 average, the only nineteen of the night in this class, and a lap in hand at the flag. Behind him Mathew Schroeder and Mark Beach both finished on 18, separated by 5.074 seconds and by four thousandths of a second a lap on average, with Mathew Schroeder holding the quickest lap of the race at 14.704 and Mark Beach the steadiest sheet in it at 92.10%. Brian Zimmerman closed the field out on 16, having built through qualifying from 15 laps to 17 with three other classes waiting for him the same evening. Not a position changed hands all night, which undersells a session in which two different drivers walked away with a qualifier.

Qualifying was over as a contest by the second run: 19 laps in 5:13.947 with a 14.621 in it, the quickest lap this class turned all night, on top of 19 more in the opener. The A was the slowest of his three 19-lap runs at 5:16.116, which mattered not at all when the rest of the field topped out at 17. A 16.510 race average, the lowest in the main, and a 14.692 quickest lap that was the only one under fifteen seconds in the race. TQ and the win with two laps in hand over the nearest car — the sort of evening where all the interesting racing happens somewhere behind you.

Two tidy 18-lap qualifiers, 91.28% and then 89.38% consistency, put him second on the grid and handed him the 15.502 that was his quickest lap of the night. The A was a rougher five minutes: 17 laps at 81.66% consistency, the softest sheet of anybody in the top four, off a 17.498 average slower than either heat run. Second still came home by 1.928 seconds over Mark Beach, so the untidy race cost him a lap on his qualifying form and not a place.

    A-main P3 · qualified P3 · qual best lap 16.010 · 91.44% qual cons · 17 laps · fast 15.940 · 85.94% cons

The opening qualifier was a scrappy one — 16 laps, a 19.941 average, 84.17% consistency — and the second was a wholesale rewrite: 17 laps in 5:10.044 at 91.44% and third on the grid. He held exactly that in the A, 17 laps at 85.94% consistency and 1.815 seconds clear of C4 on the same lap. Dallas Boyd finished 1.928 seconds further up the road, which made the whole business behind Hendrick Westmoreland a three-car scrap covered by 3.743 seconds. Not a place gained or lost all evening, and a far better night than that first qualifier had any right to promise.

    C4
    A-main P4 · qualified P5 · qual best lap 16.164 · 82.26% qual cons · 17 laps · fast 15.913 · 85.29% cons

The first qualifier never registered a lap, which is a rough way to start a Wednesday and leaves an awful lot resting on the second one. That one came good enough — 16 laps in 5:06.373 — though with the seeding done it only bought him fifth on the grid. The A was where he took the evening back: 17 laps at 85.29% consistency behind a 15.913 quickest lap, both a clear step on anything the heats had shown, and a place claimed off Brian Zimmerman. Third was 1.815 seconds up the road with one whole run of qualifying missing, which makes this a night to be fairly pleased with.

    Brian Zimmerman
    A-main P5 · qualified P4 · qual best lap 16.081 · 89.02% qual cons · 15 laps · fast 16.769 · 87.64% cons

Sixteen laps at 92.87% consistency in the opening qualifier was the steadiest run anybody in the class produced all night, and 17 in the second tucked him into fourth on the grid ahead of C4. The A refused to play along: 15 laps in 5:02.050, two shy of the three cars in front, at a 19.788 average roughly a second slower than either of his heat runs. The odd part is the 87.64% consistency he held while doing it, the best figure in the race — the buggy was behaving itself, it simply was not going quickly enough to keep the lap count up.

    A-main P6 · qualified P6 · qual best lap 19.593 · 68.05% qual cons · 12 laps · fast 17.138 · 76.17% cons

A 33.571 average across nine laps in the opener is not a run anybody keeps, and the second qualifier did at least improve on it — 12 laps at 68.05% consistency, still comfortably the back of the grid. The A brought the same 12 laps and a 17.138 quickest lap, better than anything either heat had given him by more than a second, so something was coming together by the end. Last of the six, but he was still circulating when the flag came out, which is more than the opening qualifier promised.

The night in short

Six cars, one A main, and a top seed nobody was ever going to reach. Hendrick Westmoreland qualified on 19 laps twice, put the class's quickest lap of the night — a 14.621 — into the second of them, and then ran 19 again in the A while the best anybody else managed was 17. The race behind him was the one worth watching: Dallas Boyd, Mark Beach and C4 all finished on 17 laps covered by 3.743 seconds in that order, Mark Beach having turned a scrappy 16-lap opener at 84.17% into 17 laps at 91.44% in the second qualifier. C4 began his evening with a qualifier that never registered a lap and still finished a place better than he started, and it came out of Brian Zimmerman's night. Brian Zimmerman had the steadiest qualifying run in the class at 92.87% and the steadiest sheet in the main at 87.64%, and came home two laps and one place worse off than the grid had promised. Albert Bredernitz closed the field out on 12 laps, having saved the quickest lap of his night for the A.

Each main is listed as its own race, from first. Lower mains run first and the top two bump up a main at a time, so the C feeds the B and the B feeds the A, and a driver who moved up is listed twice — in the race he won his way out of, and in the one he went on to run. Qualifying looked beatable on paper — 85.29% and then 83.38% consistency, the two softest sheets of his evening — and he headed the grid anyway on a 19-lap opening run in 5:02.290, having thrown down the class's quickest lap of the night, a 14.424, in the second. The main was a different machine altogether: 20 laps in 5:01.139, a 15.621 average and 93.36% consistency, all three the best figures in the race. Vaughn Vance matched him on lap count and still came out 17.955 seconds behind, which is what ten points of consistency between qualifying and the race will do for you. TQ and the win, and the 13.5 Expert 4wd sheet carries his name at the top as well — two of each on one Wednesday.

His 14.792 in that second run was quicker than anything anybody except Hendrick Westmoreland turned all night, so the single-lap pace was never in question. He held exactly that in the A with 18 laps in 5:00.687 and a 91.20% sheet steadier than Mathew Schroeder's ahead of him, if a lap short of it. Sixteen laps in the first run and 17 in the second, both above 90% consistency, is honest work at the back of a quick field. The main brought 17 laps at 89.64% and an 18.651 average, the softest of the six, so the grid slot survived the five minutes intact. The 15.831 he found in there took nearly six-tenths off his best qualifying lap, which is the number worth building on.

The night in short

Six cars, one A main, and a top seed who spent qualifying looking beatable and the race looking nothing of the sort. Hendrick Westmoreland qualified on 19 laps with consistency figures stuck in the mid-eighties, then ran 20 laps in 5:01.139 at 93.36% in the A — best lap count, best average and best consistency in the race — with the class's quickest lap of the night, a 14.424, banked in the second qualifier. Vaughn Vance was the only other driver to reach 20, having produced the steadiest qualifying run in the class at 92.17%, and still lost by 17.955 seconds. Mathew Schroeder took third on 19 laps from second on the grid, holding a 14.792 that nobody but the winner beat all night without ever having the race pace of the top two. C4 and Mark Beach settled fourth and fifth on 18 laps and 6.5 seconds, and Jagger Vance closed the field out on 17 with his best lap of the night saved for the main. Hendrick Westmoreland's evening did not stop here either — he did the same job in 13.5 Expert 4wd.

The quickest lap anybody in the class turned all night was his, a 15.237 in the opening qualifier, and it came attached to an 18-lap run that put him second on the grid. Then the second qualifier registered nothing at all, and neither did the main. Sixth on the sheet is what the rules say and sixth is what he gets, but the timing screen from Q1 is the honest account of how fast that car was. Rough nights happen; that one is worth forgetting quickly.

The night in short

Six cars, one A main, and one driver who never gave anybody else a look at it: Mark Beach TQ'd on 19 laps and won on 19 laps, and no other car in the class got there all night. The actual racing was for second, where C4 found a 15.543 in the main that he had not shown in either qualifier and held Matt Leibman off by six and a half seconds on the same lap — Matt Leibman having stepped up from 17 laps in both heats to 18 when it mattered. Russell Rima did his usual three identical 15-lap runs and collected fourth for it. The night's quickest lap in the class, a 15.237, went to William Schroeder in the opening qualifier and bought him second on the grid, after which his evening simply stopped — no laps in Q2, no laps in the main, sixth on the sheet and a much faster car than that suggests. Albert Bredernitz filled the other end of the story, qualifying steadily on 14 laps and then spending the main at 25.46% consistency, which is a race nobody enjoys.

Consistency was the weapon in qualifying: 93.67% on a 19-lap Q2 run, the best consistency figure of any qualifying run in the class that night, and it seeded him third. The main was a harder-edged affair — 17 laps at 85.84%, his roughest number of the evening — but third is third and he held the seed. The two cars in front finished two laps up the road; Teagan Cummings, behind him on the same lap, was the closer problem.

Two 18-lap qualifiers out of heat one, both above 90% consistency, and a grid slot of fourth to show for it. The main brought 17 laps at 86.66% and a finish of fourth, so nothing gained and nothing thrown away. He crossed the line 4.6 seconds behind Vaughn Vance, on the same lap, which is closer than the gap in front of them ever got.

Each qualifier was a little better than the last — 91.21% then 92.53%, and a quicker time on the same 17 laps — which is exactly how you want a Wednesday to go. Sixth on the grid became fifth at the flag, with 17 laps at 89.47% in the main and a 16.695 quickest lap that was never going to trouble the front two. A clean, undramatic promotion.

Two races and a promotion in between: seeded ninth, he took second in the B main behind Mark Beach on 17 laps at 92.30% consistency, better than either of his qualifiers by more than six points. Back out in the A he ran 16 laps at 87.01% and finished sixth — ahead of Jagger Vance, who had seeded fifth and only ever had to race once, and ahead of the man who had just beaten him in the B. Qualifying had given no hint of any of it, two 16-lap runs in the mid-eighties for consistency with nothing quicker than a 16.304. Three places better than he started the night, and he took the long way round to get there.

His second qualifier lasted six laps, which is how a driver ends up eighth on the grid and in the B main. He answered it in the most emphatic way available: won the B by a clear lap, 18/5:13.764 at 93.62% consistency, which is more laps than anybody in the A main managed that night bar the top two. Back out for the A he found a 15.627, quicker than anything he turned in qualifying or in the B, though a 19.129 average across 16 laps shows what a second five minutes takes out of a driver. Winning the lower main and still coming home eighth overall is the cruellest arithmetic on the sheet.

The 77.41% consistency was the lowest of anyone in a main in the class that night and it is where those two laps went. Q2 had been a 90.15% run, so the rhythm existed earlier in the evening. He climbed some of it: 14 laps at 91.42% in Q2, then 15 laps at 88.10% in the B main, one better than anything he had managed in qualifying. The B main lasted eight laps and 3:06.756 for him, and the 86.61% consistency across those eight says the car was behaving right up until it was not. Qualifying had him eleventh on a 15-lap second run, so the pace for a midfield B result was there and simply did not get used. Twelfth is a harsh souvenir of a perfectly reasonable evening's driving.

The night in short

A dozen entrants meant an A and a B, and the B is where the evening earned its keep. Mark Beach won it by a clear lap on 18 — more than anybody in the A main managed bar the top two — with Brian Zimmerman second on 17, and both went straight back out in the top main. There the order flipped: Brian Zimmerman took sixth, ahead of Jagger Vance who had seeded fifth and never had to race twice, while Mark Beach came home eighth despite throwing down a 15.627 that beat his own qualifying best comfortably. Henry Ballew, top seed in the B and the obvious favourite for a bump, finished third in it and stayed there. Out front it was a two-car night: Shane Alberico TQ'd and won on 19 laps with the lowest race average in the A, and Mathew Schroeder shadowed him on the same lap count to finish just under five seconds back, carrying the class's quickest lap of the night at 14.635. Vaughn Vance and Teagan Cummings settled third and fourth on 17 laps apiece, while at the back of the B, Albert Bredernitz dragged himself up from a five-lap first qualifier and Russell Rima's race ended after eight.

Qualifying went the wrong way on him — 18 laps at 87.44% consistency in the opener, then 17 at 84.28% in the second run — so the grid slot came out of Q1 and it was only good for second on the seed. The main was a different session entirely: 19 laps in 5:02.635, more than he had managed in either heat, off a 16.575 average and 88.37% consistency, with a 14.848 quickest lap that took better than half a second off his best of the evening to that point. C4 had the quicker single lap and Mark Beach had the better average, and over nineteen laps the average won it by 3.411 seconds. Beating the top qualifier off the second row with an evening that only came good once the racing started is a thoroughly satisfying way to do it.

The main put all of that behind him: 19 laps in 5:06.046 at 86.73% consistency, and a 14.607 in there that was the quickest lap this class turned all night and quicker than anything he had found in qualifying. What it did not contain was a way past Mark Beach, whose race average was 0.220 of a second better across the full run. Two 17-lap qualifiers 0.648 of a second apart, at 92.28% and 88.99% consistency, is a driver who knew precisely what his buggy was going to do, and that 92.28% in the opener was the steadiest figure anybody in the class posted all evening. The main then found a lap neither heat had — 18 in 5:00.946 — behind a 15.311 quickest lap that beat his best of the night to that point by better than half a second, at 88.82% consistency, the tidiest race sheet of the three. He held the seed he earned on a night where his numbers were the only ones that never wobbled.

The night in short

Three 4wd buggies, one A main, and two of them spent five minutes trading strengths. C4 took the top seed off an 18-lap opening qualifier in 5:12.780, the best heat run in the class, after a second run that went 12 laps at a 25.977 average and 7.22% consistency, and he had the quickest lap of the night in this class too — a 14.607 in the race. Mark Beach held the other half of the argument: a quickest lap of 14.848 that C4 beat by a quarter of a second, but a 16.575 race average against C4's 16.795, and over nineteen laps that was worth 3.411 seconds and the win. Ryan Johnson was the one man whose numbers never moved — two 17-lap qualifiers 0.648 of a second apart, the 92.28% in his opener the steadiest figure anybody put on the board all evening, and then 18 laps in the main at 88.82%, the tidiest race sheet of the three. All three drivers turned their quickest lap of the night in the main rather than in qualifying, so whatever the track was offering, it waited for the racing to start before offering it. Small entry, but a front end settled by less than four seconds after nineteen laps is more than plenty of bigger fields manage.

The 14.291 he threw down in that first heat stood as the quickest lap this class turned all night, and the 15.199 race average underneath the win was the only one in the A under sixteen seconds. Nineteen laps in the opening qualifier — only the top seed's 20 beat it anywhere in the heats — put him second on the grid, and the 18 laps and 87.43% consistency of the second run said it was no fluke. Then the main lasted four laps and 1:07.018, which is barely enough running to get heat into the tyres, let alone form an opinion about the buggy. Sixth on the sheet from the front row is the cruellest arithmetic of the evening, and nothing he did in qualifying deserved it. The night in short

Six 4wd buggies, one A main, and a top seed who spent the night collecting laps: Hendrick Westmoreland went 19, 20 and then 21 across his three runs, took the class's quickest lap of the night with a 14.291 in the opening qualifier, and won on a 15.199 race average that no other car in the A got within a second of. Mark Beach was the only one able to live with any of it, turning a 17-lap opener into 19 laps in qualifying and 20 in the race at 93.33% consistency, the steadiest race sheet in the class. C4 recovered from a second qualifier that stopped at 14 laps to put 19 on the board in the main and take third, while Jake Hoffman held the 18 laps he had run in both heats straight through into the race and owned the second-quickest lap of the evening at 14.311. Brian Zimmerman climbed 14 to 15 to 16 laps across his three outings and came home fifth from the back row, which is the right direction on every count. The bruise on the sheet belongs to Dallas Boyd, who banked 19 laps in the first qualifier and lined up on the front row, then got four laps and 1:07.018 into the main and no further — sixth place off a car that had every right to spend the evening arguing about second.

The race then found a lap neither heat had — 19 in 5:11.930 at 90.54% consistency, steadier than his second qualifier if short of the 93.41% he opened the night with. Same lap count as the car in front of him at the flag and a little over seven seconds behind it, for fourth on a night when everything behind the winner got shuffled by a man from the back row.

Both qualifying runs landed in the same postcode, 90.73% and 90.50% consistency, with the 18-lap opener the one that set the grid slot. He saved the best of it for the race: 18 laps again but in 5:02.462, thirteen seconds quicker than the heat that had earned the seed, with a 15.585 that was the first time all evening he had been under 15.8. Fifth from fourth on the grid, and the place went to a car coming from the back rather than to anything he did with his own.

The opener did the seeding work at 17 laps in 5:01.275, and the second run stopped at 12 — though the 15.102 tucked inside it was the quickest lap he managed all night. The main then lasted three laps and 2:20.419, which is not enough running to draw any conclusion from beyond the obvious one. Sixth on the sheet, and an evening that at least handed him one good lap to take home.

Jake Hoffman No laps — still takes the position
    A-main P7 · qualified P5 · qual best lap 14.212 · 86.07% qual cons · 0 laps

The quickest lap this class turned all night was his, a 14.212 in the second qualifier inside a 17-lap run at 86.07% consistency, with a 14.484 in the opener for good measure. Nobody but the winner put another lap under 14.5 on the board. Then the main came and the line against his name reads no laps at all, which is about the bleakest thing a timing system can print. Seventh is his by right rather than by fault, and it is filed under the name of the fastest single lap in the class this evening.

The night in short

Seven 4wd buggies, one A main, and a result that only looked orderly if you read it from the top down. Hendrick Westmoreland TQ'd on a 20-lap second qualifier and then found 21 in the race, 5:13.514 at 92.69% consistency with a race average 0.001 of a second off his qualifying one, and he was the only man in the class to reach 21 laps at any point in the evening. All the rearranging was done by C4, who seeded seventh and last off a 54.20% opener and a seven-lap second run that never got going, then took second on 20 laps — a clear lap up on everything behind him. Anthony Woodruff and Mark Beach both lost a place they had done nothing to lose, third and fourth on 19 laps apiece and seven seconds apart, with Ryan Johnson fifth off the quicker of his two 18-lap runs. The sympathy lives at the bottom of the sheet: Dallas Boyd got three laps into the main before it was over, and Jake Hoffman, who owns the quickest lap of the night at 14.212, is credited with no laps in the race at all — the lap is still his, and it is still the best anybody turned.

This class shared its track session with Mod 2wd Buggy: the timing counts one race across both fields and scores them apart, so the positions here are the ones printed in that combined race.

The sheet carries a single qualifying run against his name, and 21 laps in 5:12.416 at 95.73% consistency made it the only one he needed. The main then went a lap better again — 22 in 5:09.096, a 14.549 average and 94.89% consistency — and the 13.793 he threw down in there was the quickest lap this class turned all night. Nobody else in the race got a lap average under 15.7, which is another way of saying the gap was structural rather than lucky. A five-lap opening qualifier told nobody very much, so the grid slot came out of a 19-lap second run at 80.91% consistency — the softest figure anybody in the class posted all evening, and still good enough for the front row. The main was a different car entirely: 20 laps in 5:03.976 at 89.34%, more than eight points steadier, off a 14.015 quickest lap that only the winner beat. Two laps adrift at the flag, and the only other man in the race to put a lap under fifteen seconds on the board.

Two 17-lap qualifiers, the quicker of them 5:00.644 in the opener, is a level sheet that pointed at a level night. The main tore it up — 19 laps in 5:05.355 at 91.66% consistency, two clear laps more than he had managed in either heat, behind a 15.297 quickest lap that took better than a third of a second off his best of the evening to that point. Third, holding the seed he earned, on the biggest lap-count jump anybody in the class made between qualifying and the race.

He got better as the night went along and the sheet shows it plainly: 16 laps in the first qualifier, 17 in the second at 92.05% consistency, and then 18 in the main. The 15.975 he threw down in the race was the first time all evening he had been under sixteen seconds, though an 18.119 average alongside it says those laps were not arriving in strings. Fourth, exactly where he seeded, off an evening that improved every time he went out.

    Brian Zimmerman
    A-main P6 · qualified P5 · qual best lap 16.605 · 91.58% qual cons · 16 laps · fast 16.307 · 86.97% cons

The two qualifying runs came home 0.010 of a second apart, 5:13.694 and 5:13.704, which is a coincidence rather than an achievement given one of them carried a lap more than the other. The main matched the shorter of the pair at 16 laps and gave back everything else — a 20.438 average and 86.97% consistency, the softest race sheet in the A by a distance. That said, the 16.307 quickest lap in there was the best single lap he turned all night, so the pace was sitting in the car; it simply never came round twice in a row.

The night in short

Five 4wd buggies sharing a track session with the Mod 2wd field — same cars out there, two sets of results — and a grid that came home in exactly the order it lined up in. Noah Hicklin did it off one qualifying run, 21 laps at 95.73% consistency, and then found 22 in the main with the class's quickest lap of the night at 13.793 and a 14.549 average nobody else got within a second of. Hendrick Westmoreland was the only other driver to put a lap under fifteen seconds on the board, and his 89.34% consistency in the race was more than eight points steadier than the 19-lap run that had bought him the front row. Mark Beach made the biggest jump of the evening, two laps clear of either of his qualifiers on the way to third, while Ryan Johnson simply got quicker every time he went out and banked fourth for it. Brian Zimmerman had the roughest end of it, a 16-lap main at 86.97% consistency after two qualifying runs that finished 0.010 of a second apart. The unifying oddity: all five drivers turned their quickest lap of the night in the main, so whatever the track was doing, it waited until the racing started to do it.

C4 made the best of the rest look straightforward, recovering from a 14-lap opening qualifier to post the steadiest qualifying run in the class at 93.63% and then 20 laps in the main, a lap more than anyone behind him. Mark Beach's two near-identical 18-lap qualifiers became 19 in the race and third place, a spot better than his seed. What it did not do was carry over: 11 laps in Q1 was what actually set his grid slot, and the main gave him nothing at all, no laps recorded and no time on the sheet. Fourth is what the rule awards and fourth is what he takes, but the honest measure of that car is the Q2 screen. Everybody gets one of these eventually.

Four cars, one A main, and about as tight a finish as four cars can produce. Mark Beach TQ'd on a 19-lap second qualifier and then led the race home by 0.599 of a second, which is not much to show for five minutes of work — especially as C4 beat him on quickest lap, race average and consistency in that main and still lost it. Ryan Johnson took third after an eight-lap second qualifier undid the 17 laps he had banked in the first, and his race settled at 15 laps and an 18.394 average. The class's quickest lap of the night, a 14.618, went to William Schroeder in a second qualifier that also showed 96.68% consistency, and then the main gave him nothing whatsoever — fourth on the sheet from a car that was demonstrably quick. The main came out at 19 laps and a 16.410 average, a step off the winner but clear of everything behind, with a 14.724 quickest lap that sat within a tenth of his qualifying best. Second on the road, second on lap count, second on race average and second on quickest lap within the A — an honest night's work.

Two 17-lap qualifiers, both stuck in the low 80s for consistency, had him sixth on the grid and looking like a midfield night. The main was a different driver entirely — 18 laps at 92.47%, more than eight points steadier than anything he managed in the heats, and a 17.248 average that carried him past three cars which had out-qualified him. Sixth on the grid to third on the sheet is the biggest gain anybody in the class made on the night.

His 95.31% in the second qualifier was the steadiest run anyone in the class put together all evening, and the 19 laps under it put him third on the grid. The main was a lap shorter and a shade scrappier at 91.40%, and it finished 1.776 seconds behind Ryan Johnson on the same 18 laps, which cost him a place against his seed. A 15.426 quickest lap in the race beat both of his qualifiers, so the speed turned up; the result just did not.

An 18-lap first qualifier at 91.22% consistency was good enough for fifth on the grid, and it had to be, because the second run recorded nothing at all. The main never found that rhythm again — 12 laps, a 19.155 average and 88.09% consistency, the slowest race pace of the five drivers who put a proper run together. Fifth on the sheet, with a Q1 sheet that says the car had a good deal more in it than that.

Qualifying pointed at a perfectly solid evening — 16 laps in the first run, 17 in the second, and a 15.778 quickest lap that took three-quarters of a second off his Q1 best. The main lasted one lap and 19.166 seconds, and then it did not last any longer. He still came out a place better than his seed, which is an extremely odd way to gain one. That night is on everybody's schedule sooner or later, and the qualifying sheet says this car was owed a proper race.

Dennis Keith No laps — still takes the position
    A-main P7 · qualified P4 · qual best lap 14.899 · 88.54% qual cons · 0 laps

The second qualifier was one of the better runs anybody in the class managed that night — 18 laps in 5:04.586 with a 14.899 quickest lap, fourth on the grid, ahead of the man who ended up finishing third. Then the main recorded nothing: no laps, no time, seventh place because that is what the rule says and it says nothing further. Two clean qualifiers and an evening that simply stopped is a rotten way to spend a Wednesday. The pace was never the problem here.

The night in short

Seven cars, one A main, and Shane Alberico spent the night in his own postcode — 20 laps in the second qualifier, 20 again in the race, a 15.341 average nobody else in the A got near and the class's quickest lap of the night at 14.153. Vaughn Vance was the only other driver in the class to see 20 laps in qualifying and lost the top seed by fourteen seconds of elapsed time, then took a clean second on 19. The best story was further back: Ryan Johnson qualified sixth on two runs in the low 80s for consistency, found 92.47% and 18 laps when it counted, and beat Mark Beach to third by 1.776 seconds — Mark Beach having posted the steadiest qualifying run anyone in the class managed at 95.31% and then dropped a place in the race. Brian Zimmerman made fifth out of a single 18-lap qualifier and a 12-lap main, his Q2 having registered nothing. The back of the sheet was the cruel part: Chris Gross qualified on 17 laps and got one lap of racing, Dennis Keith qualified fourth and got none at all, and both of them are a good deal quicker than sixth and seventh make them look.

Two 17-lap qualifiers fifty-nine thousandths of a second apart, the opener carrying a 96.56% consistency sheet that was the steadiest single run this class produced all night — the top seed was a formality long before the mains were called. Then the A: 19 laps in 5:06.023, two more than either heat had given him, off a 16.759 average close to a second a lap tidier than anything qualifying had shown. The 15.827 he threw down in there was the quickest lap this class turned all evening, and it arrived in the race rather than a heat, which is the right place to find one. A first appearance on this sheet, and he went about it the sensible way — two 13-lap qualifiers 1.076 seconds apart with the second the quicker, which is a driver learning the track rather than throwing the buggy at it. The main was the best of his three runs: 14 laps in 5:16.464, a lap more than either heat produced, behind a 19.678 quickest lap that was the only time all evening he got under twenty seconds, and on an 85.40% consistency sheet steadier than both qualifiers. The opening qualifier was genuinely good — 15 laps in 5:01.106 behind a 17.134 quickest lap, sharper than anything Mark Beach turned in that same first heat, and worth the front row. Nothing after it went his way: Q2 came back as eight laps at a 39.942 average, and the main was ten in 5:15.733 at a 34.181 where the run that seeded him second had gone 20.074. The sheet does not say why and there is nothing to be gained from guessing. Front row to the back of three, with the best driving of his evening already in the books before the A was gridded — and a 15-lap opener on file to prove the pace is still in there.

The night in short

Three buggies, one A main, and three evenings that had almost nothing to do with one another. Mark Beach seeded on a pair of 17-lap qualifiers fifty-nine thousandths apart, one of them at 96.56% consistency, and then found two more laps in the race — 19 in 5:06.023, five clear of second place, with the class's quickest lap of the night at 15.827 sitting inside it. Mike Fleming was out here for the first time and treated the night as somewhere to build: 13 laps in each heat, then 14 in the A on his steadiest sheet of the evening and his only lap under twenty seconds, which was good for second. Chuck Burns is the one who will be thinking about it on the drive home — a 15-lap opening qualifier behind the quickest lap of that first heat put him on the front row, and then Q2 came back at eight laps and the main at ten on a 34.181 average, against the 20.074 that had done the seeding. Nothing on the sheet explains it, so nobody should pretend to; on a three-car night the order still changed hands, just not in the direction qualifying had pointed.

Jake Hoffman had the second-quickest lap of qualifying and the softest consistency of the main, which is a fair account of how a third grid slot became fifth. Two drivers reached 18 laps all evening, and only one of them started anywhere near the front.

Three buggies, one A main, and the only thing anybody could do about Mark Beach was watch him work. He seeded on two 18-lap qualifiers 0.903 seconds apart, one of them at 95.65% consistency, then found a nineteenth lap in the race — a distance nobody else in the class reached in any session — and put the class's quickest lap of the night, a 16.010, into it. The place that changed hands was second, and it changed the hard way: Chuck Burns started from the back of the three on a pair of 15-lap heats and produced 17 laps in the main, two more than he had managed all evening and enough to go by Ryan Westmoreland. Ryan Westmoreland had been the only other driver to beat 15 laps in qualifying, 16 of them at 90.64% in his second run, and then came back with 15 in the A on his softest consistency of the night. Small field or not, all three finished on a different lap count, and the order at the end was not the order it started.

Ten laps in the opening qualifier became 12 in the second, and the main matched that count in a considerably tidier 5:10.553 — close to eleven seconds quicker over the same distance. The 21.811 he threw down in the race sat between his two qualifying bests, and the 27.719 average is where the work is waiting. Two runs at 12 laps with the quicker of them saved for the race that counted is a night pointed the right way.

The night in short

Four buggies, one A main, and a finishing order you could read straight off the lap counter: 19, 18, 17 and 12. Mark Beach took the top seed with 18 laps in the second qualifier and then found a nineteenth in the race, running the only sub-17 average in the class all night at 16.982 and the class's quickest lap of the night at 16.020. Brian Zimmerman was the only other driver to reach 18, adding a lap to his best heat and taking the better part of half a second a lap off his average to do it. Chuck Burns went 15 laps, then 16, then 17, with his quickest lap dropping in every session he ran — a third place built entirely out of getting better as the evening went on. Steve Smook closed the field out on 12 laps in the A, close to eleven seconds quicker than the 12 he put together in qualifying. Not one position changed hands against the seeding sheet, and yet every driver in the class saved their best run of the night for the race that decided it.

Two 16-lap qualifiers 3.356 seconds apart is the mark of a driver who knows precisely what his buggy will do, and the second of them at 90.23% consistency was the tidier. The main added a lap — 17 in 5:15.126, his best run of the night — and second place, a lap behind Mark Beach and a lap ahead of Chuck Burns. The main matched his best lap count at 16 in 5:11.412 and came in at 89.02% consistency, within a point of both qualifying runs — this is a man who does very much the same thing every time he goes out. His 17.490 quickest lap was the best he turned all evening, so the pace was still coming at the end of the night.

The night in short

Three buggies is a small class and it still produced a proper evening's racing, with each driver finishing a lap apart. Mark Beach settled the top seed on the first run of the night, 18 laps at 94.10% consistency when nobody else in the class reached 18 in any session, then repeated the distance in the A thirteen seconds quicker with the class's quickest lap of the night at 16.023. Dustin Vance had been remarkably repeatable in qualifying, two 16-lap runs 3.356 seconds apart, and found a seventeenth lap when it counted to take second. Chuck Burns closed the field out on 16 laps at 89.02% consistency, within a point of both his qualifying runs, and saved his quickest lap of the night for the race. Nobody moved off their grid slot, but all three drove a better main than they had a heat, which is what a club night is for.

The actual racing was behind him, where Dustin Vance and Brian Zimmerman came out of the five minutes separated by 1.282 seconds for second. Dustin Vance got it on consistency, 94.05% against 85.78%, despite owning the slowest quickest lap in the race at 18.105 — Brian Zimmerman had the sharper single lap all evening, including a 16.466 in the first qualifier, and could not string them together in the A. Chris Gross took fourth from fourth on the grid with the second-quickest lap of the main and an average almost three seconds off it, and Chuck Burns closed out the field 7.768 seconds later, a lap up on the 15 he started the night with. The opening qualifier was the whole of his evening's running — 13 laps in 5:02.214 at an 18.622 best — because the second run lasted a single lap and 27.739 seconds before it was done with him. That first heat still held the grid slot, and then the A main went into the book with no laps and no time against his name, which is about as bleak as a results sheet gets. Second in the class stands all the same, because a driver credited with no laps still takes his finishing position; the P4 beside him is the combined order of a race the buggies were sharing, not a truck he lost to. He turned up and did the qualifying; the race never gave him anywhere to spend it.

The night in short

Two trucks, one A main, and the pair of them sent out inside the Mod 2wd Buggy session — the same races carry both fields and the pages are titled for the buggies, which is why the truck positions read third and fourth on the road rather than first and second. Inside the class it was Brian Zimmerman from the second qualifier onwards: 16 laps in 5:01.962 at 92.98% consistency after a seven-lap opener, the class's quickest lap of the night at 17.060, and 15 laps in 5:02.964 to settle the main. That was one of four cars he had out on the night, with the 17.5, the 21.5 and the 13.5 4wd also on his card. Chuck Burns did his running in the first heat, 13 laps in 5:02.214, and got a single lap out of the second before the A recorded nothing at all against him — no laps still takes a finishing position, so second in the class is his and the rule has nothing more to say about it. A two-truck class is thin enough without one of them losing the race entirely, but the pace at the front of it was the real thing.

A three-lap opening run told nobody very much, so the second qualifier was the real work of his night — nine laps in 3:19.074 at a 22.119 average with a 17.984 in there, his quickest lap of the evening and enough to line up third. The main then went into the book as one lap and 5.718 seconds, about the smallest entry a results sheet can print. Third place stands, because that is what the rule awards. He had done the running to earn the grid slot; the race simply never gave him a chance to spend it.

The night in short

Three trucks, one A main, and a top seed who spent the whole night adding a lap at a time. Anthony Woodruff went 16, then 17, then 18, took the class's quickest lap of the night with a 15.762 in the second qualifier and turned the lot into a 5:02.120 win at 92.73% consistency. Russell Rima had been stuck on 14 laps in both heats and found three more when it counted, cutting nearly two seconds a lap off his qualifying average to take second. Chuck Burns did the running to line up third — nine laps in the second qualifier after a three-lap opener — and then the main gave him a single lap and 5.718 seconds before it was done with him, which is a bleak return on an evening's preparation. All of it ran inside the Mod 2wd Buggy session, scored separately and raced together, so every lap came with buggy company alongside. Small field, a tidy winner, and one truck that deserved a great deal more track time than it got.

Qualifying gave nothing away: 15 laps in 5:19.864 and then 15 in 5:21.917, 92.04% consistency in the first and 90.28% in the second, the sort of sheet that gets a truck onto the front row without anybody noticing it arrive. Pole came out of a single completed run, 15 laps in 5:00.154 and getting on for twenty seconds clear of anyone else's 15-lap effort, which was just as well because the second qualifier registered nothing at all. The 17.213 he threw down in the main was the quickest lap this class turned all night, and the 19.508 average around it was the quickest race pace anybody recorded. Then the run stopped at 12 laps and 3:43.335, a minute and a half short of the distance the winner covered. The night in short

Three trucks, one A main, and the quickest of them did not get to run it out. Brian Zimmerman held the top seed off one completed qualifier — 15 laps in 5:00.154, getting on for twenty seconds clear of anyone else over the same distance — and put the class's quickest lap of the night, a 17.213, into the race before it stopped for him at 12 laps and 3:43.335. Albert Bredernitz took the win with 16 laps in 5:19.117, one better than either of his own qualifiers, behind 93.67% consistency that was the steadiest figure anybody in the class managed all evening. Chuck Burns got least out of it: 14 laps then 15 in the heats to line up third, then a main that recorded nothing whatsoever, so third is where the rule leaves him. A small class and a rough one, and the truck that saw the distance did it more neatly than anything else on the sheet.

Sixteen laps in the second run said the same thing more quietly. Then the main recorded nothing whatsoever: no laps, no time, third place because that is what the rule awards and the rule has nothing further to say about it. Two runs like that and an evening that simply stops is a rotten way to spend a Wednesday, and the qualifying sheet is the honest measure of that truck.

The night in short

Three trucks, one A main, and one of them spent qualifying on a completely different program. Noah Hicklin put 19 laps on the board in the first run when neither of the others managed more than 15, took the class's quickest lap of the night at 14.781, backed it up with 16 laps in the second — and then recorded nothing at all in the main, so the rule handed him third from comfortably the quickest truck in the class. That left Albert Bredernitz and Russell Rima to settle it between themselves, and settle it they did: 15 laps each and 0.418 of a second in it after five minutes of running. Russell Rima had the better race average and the steadier sheet, having reached the grid on a five-lap qualifier and a second run that registered nothing; Albert Bredernitz had the quickest lap and the position, which is the column that gets printed in bold. Small class, but the last lap of it was worth standing on the drivers' stand for.

The second qualifier dropped to 14 laps and the main matched it, 14 laps at a 23.133 average behind a 19.883 quickest lap, the only driver in the A who never turned one under nineteen seconds. Sixth on the grid became sixth on the sheet, and a night where the consistency is the good column is a night where the speed is the missing one.

His main stopped at 13 laps and 4:28.872, a good half-minute short of the five that everyone else ran, and yet the 20.330 average inside it was better than either of the two trucks that finished immediately ahead of him. The night in short

Seven trucks, one A main, and a top seed that had to be rescued from a six-lap opening run — Brian Zimmerman found 16 laps at 90.89% in the second qualifier and headed the grid on it. The race went to Jagger Vance from third on the grid, on 16 laps, an 18.711 average and 92.16% consistency that was the steadiest race anybody drove, which is a fair recovery from a scrappy eleven-lap second qualifier. Henry Ballew made him work for it, 4.332 seconds behind at the flag with an 18.700 race average that was fractionally better than the winner's, while Brian Zimmerman completed the podium 9.051 seconds off the win from pole. The quickest lap of the night in this class, a 16.638, belonged to Sam Bredernitz, who started on the front row and came home fourth a lap down — the speed was there, it just refused to turn up twice in a row. Behind them Chuck Burns clung on to fifth through a main at 78.92% consistency, Albert Bredernitz held sixth as the only driver in the A who never turned a lap under nineteen seconds, and Russell Rima's race stopped at 4:28.872 with the fourth-steadiest sheet in the A to his name.

Novice ran inside the 13.5 Stadium Truck session on this night — the same race IDs carry both fields, scored separately but raced together — which is why the sheet lists him as the eighth car in races titled for the other class while his own seed reads P1. That is paperwork, not driving. The laps column came back empty across both runs and the A, and the rule is straightforward: a driver credited with no laps still takes his finishing position, so the result stands as printed. He put his name down for all three sessions on a night when his class was one car deep, which is how everybody starts — the laps will come.

One driver, one entry, and a Novice class that ran inside the 13.5 Stadium Truck session — scored separately, raced together, with the race titles naming only the trucks. Jax Bredernitz is on the sheet for both qualifiers and the A, and the timing came back with no laps against his name in any of the three, which scores as his finishing position and nothing worse than that. A Novice night spent in among a full field of trucks is exactly the sort of evening that turns into laps later on, and there is no substitute for being at the track while it happens. Good to see him entered; the numbers will follow.

Wednesday Offroad runs most weeks. Only nights that have been pulled from timing appear here.

How a night runs

Two qualifiers, then mains. Seeding is most laps, and on equal laps the quicker time — so 20/5:10 beats 20/5:25, and a single fast lap on its own moves nobody. Every figure in a qualifying row describes the one run a driver was seeded on rather than his best number from each.

A big class splits into an A and a B, and a bigger one into a C as well. The lower mains run first and the top two move up a main at a time — the C bumps into the B, the B bumps into the A — so a driver can race twice in a night. Each main is published as its own race, counted from first, and a driver who moved up appears in both of his: the one he won his way out of and the one he went on to run.
